Why Don Hattan Tech?
You might be thinking: “Why would I choose to come to Don Hattan Tech instead of a traditional institution?”
In case you haven’t heard, growing people is kind of our thing. If you’re into stats, more than 65% of our management team have been promoted from within. Because of how we treat our employees and the training we provide, we have attracted top-notch talent to our dealerships. Our Ford location is now home to three Certified Master Technicians – this is unheard of for just one dealership. Our customers have recognized the skill within our department, creating the opportunity for us to expand not once, but twice in the last four years.
This growth has driven us to create our own program: Don Hattan Technical Training Center.
Nationally, the automotive industry has seen a severe lack of certified technicians. We believe at least part of this is due to potential techs being unable to afford traditional training programs. In true Don Hattan fashion, we decided to get innovative and do something about this problem.
We wanted to create a new way of going to school. A way that includes real world experience under the mentorship of real technicians. A way that fits in with your everyday life, and doesn’t cost thousands of dollars (in fact- you’re the one getting paid!).
Why a Service Technician Career?
There are about 289 million registered vehicles in the United States – talk about job security! We are always going to need automotive technicians to repair our vehicles. Regardless of whatever technology or AI comes our way (and might even help), it cannot replace the real, talented technicians who fix our cars.
As long as you’re willing to put the time into training, the salary of a technician at Don Hattan can never be truly capped. You determine whether you take home $40,000/yr or $135,000/yr. And we know how to help get you there.
Our most successful technicians are team players who are always ready to learn and goal focused.
By the time you have become a season technician, you will have learned how to:
- Identify problems, often by using computerized diagnostic equipment
- Plan work procedures, using charts, technical manuals, and experience
- Test parts and systems to ensure that they work properly
- Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined
- Perform repairs to manufacturer and customer specifications
- Explain automotive problems and repairs to clients
